Yes, I still service all Rick-Tone amplifiers regardless of
age or condition. I can also service many other
manufacturer's amps, including vintage amps from the big
names like Fender & Marshall, and the ''cheap and
nasty'' vintage amps that many techs won't touch, like Kay,
Harmony, Alamo, Premiere, Supro, Silvertone and many other
budget tube amplifiers. In many cases the cost of repairs
on the budget units can add up to more than the market
value of the amp, so please contact me about repair
services only if you're serious about having your amp fixed
and have funds to devote to your project.
I have worked on amps for my own use since the late 1970's,
and I have built and serviced amps for other musicians
since the 1980's, but I am not a full-time amp
technician. At this time in my life, I have a regular job
that I do on weekdays, and I am only doing amp work on
weekends. If you need your amp fixed fast, send it to
somebody else. I am also not the cheapest amp tech, but
any repairs I do are done safely and done right. As far as
I know, I've never had an unsatisfied customer.
Before asking me to repair something, please consider
the following:
- I do electrical repairs, not cabinet repairs. If you need
your amp's cabinet repaired, rebuilt, or
recovered, please ask elsewhere.
- I work on tube amps. I don't work on solid-state amps,
with a few exceptions. The exceptions are the early
solid-state amps manufactured from about 1965 to 1970 that
use discreet transistors instead of integrated circuits.
If you need a modern solid-state amp repaired,
please ask elsewhere.
- I only work on musical instrument amplifiers, vintage PA
amplifiers, and occasionally on antique radios. If you
need a repair done on a hi-fi stereo amp, electric organ,
television, phonograph, telephone, or some other gadget,
please ask elsewhere.
- I work on guitar amps, not on guitars. If you need
your guitar, bass, banjo, ukelele, or some other instrument
repaired, please ask elsewhere. For instrument repairs, I recommend
the following:

- I don't travel to work on amps. If you aren't located in
my area (the central Willamette Valley region of Oregon),
then please be prepared to carefully package and ship your
amp to me for repair, and please be prepared to accept the
risks involved in shipping your delicate amplifier with a
carrier like UPS or Fedex. If you aren't prepared to do
this, please ask elsewhere.
If you made it this far: For more information about
repair services, please feel free to contact me by e-mail .
In your e-mail , please include the make/model/type of your
amp and a description of the problem(s) you want repaired.
